Our Traditional
Holiday Festival of Candles and Carols...
Give to yourself, your family and your friends the
gift of attending our family-oriented, sing-along holiday concerts featuring
music of a wide range of traditions, settings and moods.
Festival of Candles and
Carols will feature Vivaldis Gloria, with soprano
Rochelle Ellis. This warm and diverse program includes settings
of O Magnum Mysterium by Morton Lauridsen and Tomas Luis de Victoria;
J.L.Bachs motet Das ist meine Freude, an antiphonal double choir
work, two Spanish carols, one by Andrew Carter and an arrangement of the
Chanukah song Ocho Kandelikas by local composer Jay Kawarsky; popular
seasonal works including Go Tell it on the Mountain and the Austrian
carol Still, Still, Still. The audience will be invited to join in
singing a few Christmas carols. The Sunday afternoon performance, December 17,
will be our first concert for VOICES at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in
Princeton.
Rochelle Ellis is a favorite with VOICES Chorale
audiences and will add a few of her own seasonal favorites to the program. Her
Carnegie Hall debut was as soloist for Schubert's Mass in G and
Bachs Cantata 140 with the Orchestra of St. Lukes and the
Westminster Choir, conducted by Joseph Flummerfelt. Ms. Ellis
international concert debut was performing the Verdi Requiem with the
National Opera of China in Beijing with conductor Lyndon Woodside and the
Oratorio Society of New York.
