Practice matters. If you practice 5 or more times a week, you not only learn the notes and text, you allow your voice to develop. If you practice twice a week, it's good, and it's twice as good as practicing once!

From Jay Kawarsky

Great work all! The sound is getting there and it is clear that we are going to have a fantastic Christmas concert. But don't become complacent now. Keep up the good work and PLEASE limit absences. We're on a roll...keep looking at music and practicing signing and singing. Great work in sectionals. It shows! Thank you’s to Ryan and Barbara.

Please let Jenn Gregg know what music you STILL need (it's getting late).

Next Monday is our workshop with Dr. James Jordan. You will find him to be a fantastic teacher! Dinner begins at 6...workshop from 7:30 to 9:30.

Sing for the Cure

September 11

From Jay Kawarsky

We welcome John Paul Velez, who will be joining us through the end of January as assistant conductor on Tuesdays for Sing for the Cure. He is a graduate of Westminster Choir College, class of 2004, in the department of Music Education as a piano principal. Since then he has worked as a vocal music teacher at the elementary level in Centennial School District in Pennsylvania and is now employed at the Littlebrook School of Princeton Regional Schools. There he is the general music teacher for grades K-5 and also directs two choirs. In May of 2008, he completed his Master of Arts degree in Music Education from Teacher's College, Columbia University.

John is vice president of the Central New Jersey American Orff Schulwerk Association chapter and is also a current member of American Choral Directors Association. Also active in jazz piano performance, he accompanies and performs with various ensembles in the tri-state area. John also cantors regularly at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church of Princeton. Currently studying with Dr. James Jordan, he hopes to gain more choral conducting experience by working with VOICES under the direction of Dr. Jay Kawarsky.
