Introducing our Soloists for Handel's ISRAEL IN EGYPT

Dear Friends,

Welcome to this third edition of our VOICES e-newsletter.

It's countdown time to our March 13th and 14th performances of G.F. Handel's Israel in Egypt! We hope you are making plans to attend these concerts, which will feature wonderful soloists, a chamber orchestra, the VOICES Chorale and our Sotto Voce chamber chorus, all directed by Dr. Lynne Ransom, founder and music director of VOICES.

Our "evening with Maestro Handel"

Handel, Jennens and Ransom discuss musical inspirations for "Israel in Egypt"Our February 18th event proved enjoyable for guests and Chorale alike. VOICES tenor Bill Bunting (as George Frederick Handel), baritone Ron O'Reilly (as the Rev. Charles Jennens), and Music Director Lynne Ransom joined the VOICES Chorale and Sotto Voce in imagining how Handel might have been inspired to write his dramatic oratorio, Israel in Egypt, in 1738. The improvisation, together with an "open rehearsal" and Passover-style refreshments, was shared with an attentive and appreciative audience. Click here to see more pictures!

Children's Composition Contest Coming Soon!

Looking ahead, our Children's Composition Contest is coming soon. The deadline for submitting original compositions has been extended to May 1. Winners will have their works performed at our June concerts! You'll be hearing more about this exciting and fun opportunity for children to put their creative talents to work, and perhaps give birth to a young, contemporary Handel!
